Our Comprehensive Cardiac Services
  1. Comprehensive Care Under One Roof

Common symptoms of CAD may include chest pain and/or chest discomfort during exercise or activity. Symptoms are likely due to blockage inside coronary arteries, which supply the heart and can lead to devastating heart attacks in the future.

Fortunately, many myocardial infarctions can be treated with revascularization, which is a process that involves implanting a stent into the affected blood vessel.

    Management approach:

    • Diagnosis of CAD can be done through Coronary Angiography.
    • Treatment:
      • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), which utilizes balloon and stenting to open the blockage
      • A more invasive approach, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
    • Physiology study inside the lab using FFR technique to evaluate significancy of the vessel narrowing.
    • Intravascular imaging that provides accurate evaluation of lesion or blockages
    • Specific tool such as rotational atherectomy for lesion with some rocks of calcium inside.
    • New method Intravascular Lithotripsy to deal with calcium lesion.
  2. Cardiac Arrhythmia

Palpitation can be felt as fast heart beats, which can be described as, fluttering rapidly, pounding and skipping beats. Most of the time it is benign but some could be a sign of malignant disease if it’s accompanied by near fainting or loss of consciousness.

    Management approach:

    • Diagnostic procedure such as electrocardiography, Holter (or extended Holter) monitoring, ILR, Treadmill stress test, Echocardiography, and Electrophysiology Study is effective in diagnosing arrhythmias.
    • Treatment option may include:
      • Anti-arrhythmic medications
      • Conventional catheter ablation
      • 3D catheter ablation
      • Implantable cardioverter devices
  3. Heart Failure

Condition in which your heart is unable to supply enough blood to meet your body's needs.

    Heart failure symptoms may include:

    • Shortness of breath with activity or when lying down.
    • Fatigue and weakness.
    • Swelling in of the legs, ankles and feet.
    • Rapid or irregular heartbeat.
    • Reduced ability to exercise.
    • A cough that doesn't go away or a cough that brings up white or pink mucus with spots of blood.
    • Very rapid weight gain from fluid buildup.
    • Chest pain if heart failure is caused by a heart attack.

    Management approach:

    • Diagnostic procedures including:
      • Electrocardiography
      • Echocardiography (and transesophageal echocardiography)
      • Stress echocardiography
      • Coronary angiography
      • Cardiac CT
      • Cardiac MRI
      • Nuclear stress test
    • Treatment option including:
      • Comprehensive cardiac consultation based on underlying disease
      • Comprehensive heart failure therapy
      • Percutaneous coronary intervention or CABG
      • Implantable cardiac devices (cardiac resynchronization therapy)
  4. Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD)

    Symptom in children including:

    • Growth delays
    • Color changes (bluish) in the lips
    • Tongues or nails
    • Rapid breathing
    • Difficult to suck milk
    • Shortness of breath
    • Swelling in the legs or ankle

In adults with congenital heart disease, the symptoms are similar to heart failure symptoms, including shortness of breath, swelling in the legs and ankles, dizziness or light-headedness, easy to get fatigue, and bluish skin.

    Management approach:

    • Diagnostic procedures: electrocardiography, echocardiography, heart catheterization, and cardiac MRI
    • Treatment option: Percutaneous defect closure by devices or open surgical approach
  5. Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is a condition in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the arms or legs.

    Symptoms include:

    • Leg pain when walking
    • Muscle cramping in the arms or legs, often in the calf
    • Muscle pain in the arms or legs that begins with exercise and ends with rest
    • Painful cramping in one or both of the hips, thighs or calves after walking or climbing stairs or other activities
    • Pain when using the arms, such as aching and cramping when knitting or writing
    • Coldness in the lower leg or foot, especially when compared with the other side.
    • Leg numbness or weakness.
    • No pulse or a weak pulse in the legs or feet.

    Management approach:

    • Diagnostic procedure:
      • Plethysmography
      • Doppler Ultrasound
      • Peripheral Angiography
    • Treatment option:
      • Medical therapy
      • Open surgical procedure
      • Minimal invasive percutaneous transluminal angioplasty
  6. Varicose Veins (Varicoses)

Varicose veins of the legs are bulging, enlarged veins close to the skin's surface. Varicose veins most often affect the veins in the legs.

Veins that look twisted and bulging. They often look like cords on the legs.

    Symptoms include:

    • An achy or heavy feeling in the legs.
    • Burning, throbbing, muscle cramping and swelling in the lower legs.
    • Worse pain after sitting or standing for a long time.
    • Itching around one or more of the veins.
    • Changes in skin color around a varicose vein.

    Management approach:

    • Diagnostic procedure: Doppler ultrasonography
    • Treatment option: Endovenous Laser Ablation, Crossectomy + Stripping
  7. Cardiac Preventive and Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation is a personalized and supervised program which is designed to improve health in those with heart disease. It's often recommended after a heart attack or heart surgery Cardiac rehabilitation involves exercise training, emotional support and education about a heart-healthy lifestyle.

The goals of cardiac rehab are to:

    • Improve quality of life.
    • Improve recovery after a heart attack or heart surgery.
    • Reduce the risk of future heart trouble.
    • Prevent the heart condition from worsening.

Cardiac rehab may be recommended after heart procedures that include:

    • Angioplasty and stenting.
    • Coronary artery bypass surgery.
    • Heart valve repair or replacement.
    • Procedures to open clogged arteries in legs or arms.

    Doctors: Multidisciplinary team

  8. Cardiac Imaging

In the rapidly evolving world of cardiology, cardiac imaging has become the cornerstone of accurate diagnosis, personalized treatment, and long-term heart health. At Bali International Hospital, we are proud to offer a comprehensive range of cutting-edge cardiac imaging services, designed to deliver clarity, precision, and peace of mind.

Cardiac imaging is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity in modern healthcare. Here’s why:

    • Early Detection: Spot heart conditions before symptoms appear, enabling timely intervention.
    • Precise Diagnosis: Obtain detailed insights into heart structure, function, and blood flow for tailored treatments.
    • Risk Assessment: Identify risk factors like coronary artery disease or calcium build-up to prevent future complications.
    • Guiding Interventions: Enhance the success of procedures like stent placement or surgery with precise imaging.

At Bali International Hospital, we provide a wide spectrum of state-of-the-art cardiac imaging modalities to address diverse patient needs:

    • Echocardiography: Real-time ultrasound imaging to assess heart structure and function.
    • Stress Echocardiography: Evaluate how well your heart works under stress to detect potential issues.
    • Coronary Calcium Scoring: A quick and non-invasive CT scan to measure calcium build-up in the coronary arteries, an early indicator of heart disease.
    • Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA): A highly detailed imaging method to visualize blood flow in the coronary arteries and detect blockages.
    • Cardiac MRI: The gold standard for assessing heart structure, function, and tissue health, offering unparalleled clarity for complex conditions.
