Dr. Francis Chin Kuok Choon, MBBS (Spore), EU MSc of Rad Biol (distinction) (UCL,UK), FRCR (Clinical Oncology) (UK)
Dr. Francis Chin Kuok Choon is a highly experienced radiation oncologist with over 20 years of expertise in radiation and medical oncology. An ASEAN and Chevening Scholar, he was the first student from Asia to complete the prestigious EU MSc in Radiation Biology at University College London, a program sponsored by the European Commission to develop experts in radiation oncology and biology.
Before joining Icon Cancer Centre, Dr. Chin spent over two decades at National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) and continues to serve as a Visiting Consultant at KK Women and Children’s Hospital. He has played key roles in clinical research and policy-making, including serving as Deputy Chair of the SingHealth Institutional Research Boards in Oncology/Haematology, and contributing to clinical risk management at SingHealth hospitals.
Dr. Chin has a special interest in breast cancers, gynaecological conditions, gastrointestinal cancers, prostate cancers, paediatric cancers, and soft tissue sarcomas, while accepting referrals for all cancer types. He has led multiple quality assurance and research initiatives, including managing the radiation proton development program and securing a 10 million SGD research grant for proton therapy (2017–2022).
As a respected authority in radiation oncology, Dr. Chin has contributed to global medical literature, including the Oxford Textbook of Critical Care and has been recognized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for his contributions to radiation oncology advancements. He also served as President-Elect of the Southeast Asian Radiation Oncology Group (SEAROG), supporting training and collaboration across Southeast Asia.
Dr. Chin remains dedicated to advancing radiation therapy techniques and improving patient outcomes in Singapore and beyond.
